MGB’s Oulton Park

MGB’s Oulton Park

The MCR team were once again at Oulton park, this time with Paul and Gary and their two FIA Historic Spec MGB’s. The Cars were entered in both the swinging 60’s 40 minute race and the 1 hour classic K race. This  meant a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes track time for each of the cars and 4 track sessions.   Both of the races involve a pit stop with the driver having to get out and back in again. This needs careful work by the team to bring the cars in at the best time during the pit window, and get the driver in and out and...

British Sports GT and Saloon Challenge – Spa Francorchamps 2014

With the Qualifying session for Sundays 1 hour race completed Dom is sitting in 36th put of 74 Qualifiers after completing 9 laps in a damp and slippery qualifying session. Dominic managed a lap time of 3.23 seconds, still getting used to the car that he’s only driven once this year at Silverstone. The weather forecast for the race is as uncertain as it can be at Spa, but in a wet race we would expect to see Dom climb up the Leaderboard  as the conditions reduce the advantage of the more powerful cars some with engines 4 times bigger...

We also had another MCR prepared car andMg Midget racing with its owner in the swinging 60’s race. Le Mans Classic 2014

Le Mans Classic 2014

The Team once again assembled in France for the 2014 Le mans Classic, the Second time with the 1932 Citroen C4 and the Graysin Racing drivers. The car had been fully rebuilt since the 2012 event this time with the engine built in house by Midland Classic Restorations, with some modifications to improve reliability. Other than an issue with the high ethanol fuel melting a modern fuel filter ( an issue that hit many competitors) The car ran perfectly with the lap times significantly lower than the first outing, even with the weather being very...

Deep Sanderson

Deep Sanderson

Here we have in the workshop a very well known if a little quirky 1960’s Le Mans Race car. A Deep Sanderson. This small mid engined Car was built in low volumes in the 1960’s and this car was the Factory race car that competed at Le Mans several times.   With its Mid mounted A-series engine and light chassis the car was clocked at a remarkable 150mph+ on the straight at Le Mans in 1964. The car is now looked after by another local race team and was at Midland Classic Restorations for some modifications to the roll cage for the new...
